Les plus anciens trait\u00e9s de Qi Gong remontent \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque des Han (III\u00b0 si\u00e8cle avant notre \u00e8re). Ils proc\u00e8dent tous du principe tao\u00efste de la recherche de la longue vie (<span class=\"c4\">\u4e07<\/span><span class=\"c4\">\u5c81 <em>w\u00e0n su\u00ec<\/em><\/span>, litt\u00e9ralement \u00ab\u00a0dix-mille ann\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb) \u00e0 travers, justement, le Qi Gong, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire, litt\u00e9ralement, \u00ab\u00a0la circulation des \u00e9nergies\u00a0\u00bb. Selon la l\u00e9gende, Bodhidharma (V\u00b0-VI\u00b0 si\u00e8cle), initiateur du bouddhisme zen en Chine, \u00e9crivit un trait\u00e9 de Qi Gong \u00e0 l&rsquo;usage des moines du temple de Shaolin.
